Kansas City Fall – Tips for your home

kansas city outdoor colorful fall scenery

The weather is finally breaking here in Kansas City, and we are ready for these cooler temperatures! Fall has arrived, and we are excited for football, bonfires, chilly evenings and autumn leaves.

If you are looking to bring the change of season inside your home, J.S. Robinson has a few suggestions to help.

Porch Decor – Mums can be found everywhere this time of year, and they are a great way to brighten up your doorstep. Fall wreaths for your front door can be found or created as a fun DIY project. Pick a color scheme that you are drawn to and decorate based on those hues. Subtle, bright or rich color palettes can all help you create your favorite style of fall decor.

Pumpkin Accents – Faux pumpkins painted in a monochromatic color scheme? Traditional carved pumpkins? Mini pumpkins arranged as a centerpiece? Clusters of varying size, color and shape? Pumpkins are so versatile and you can find so many creative uses for them on Pinterest or elsewhere.

Fall Flowers – Asters, mums and sunflowers can be found all over durning the fall. Fill a fall vase, create a stunning centerpiece, plant them on your porch, hang a bright wreath, or drape a fall garland. Go for warm reds and yellows, deep burgundy and browns, or more of a neutral white color palette.

Natural Elements – You can find some great decor right outside of your home, so go for a walk to gather some ideas and supplies. Utilize the interesting natural branches, leaves, berries, cones and feathers all around you to bring the autumn feel into your home. You can find a variety of pumpkins, feathers, flowers and Indian corn at local grocery stores. Think of using baskets to create groupings of your favorite fall elements.

Cozy Corners – Fine a cozy throw blanket to throw over a chair, and stack a couple of your favorite books on the table. Make sure you include your favorite local KC magazines and guide books so you don’t forget about all of the fun fall activities our city has to offer. You will have the perfect corner for a cup of tea or cocoa on those chilly fall days.

Fall Aroma – There’s nothing like a scented candle to bring the fall feel into your home. Pumpkin, chai, cinnamon, rosemary, pine and cedar wood are all popular scents that can be found during the fall. Potpourri, a mixture of dried petals and spices, can add a fall perfume to any room in your home as well.

Maybe what you are really looking to do with your current home this fall is sell it! Check out our available homes here in the greater KC area, take a virtual home tour or contact us here at J.S.
